Biographical Sketch of Rev. Dr. Elmore Torbert, Jr.
Rev. Dr. Elmore Torbert Jr., is the Senior Pastor of St. Timothy Missionary Baptist Church. With a passionate heart for God and His people, this man of God is consistent in the study and appreciation of the Word of God. He has been in ministry for almost 30 years and he has a unique passion for the people of God.
Dr. Elmore Torbert, Jr.. was born and raised in Flint Michigan. After graduating from Beecher High School, he began his undergraduate career at Alabama State University and later continued at American Baptist College in Nashville, TN where he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Christian Education and Sociology. He enrolled at the University of Phoenix where he studied towards a Master of Arts in Organizational Management. He graduated from American Baptist College where he earned a Master's Degree in Pastoral Care & Counseling. He later earned a Master of Divinity from Sewanee School of Theology, and he has completed his coursework towards a Doctor of Ministry Degree in Therapeutic Pastoral Care & Counseling.
Dr. Elmore Torbert, Jr., has maintained leadership in many capacities. He served at the American Baptist College in the Student Government Association. He has served in various capacities within the Tennessee Baptist Missionary & Educational Convention, Inc.
Upon earning his degree, Pastor Elmore Torbert, Jr., married Dr. Tracey Ayanna Miller and through this union came two beautiful children, Aaron Reginald and Sheena Alaine. After being together for eight years and 19 days, on July 2, 2006, God called Tracey home. This was a major turning point in Elmore's life and forced him to build an even stronger relationship with God. Because of that relationship, he and his children have been more than conquerors and are living testimonies to God's healing power.
